TEXAS
NATIONAL MATHEMATICS PENTATHLON® TOURNAMENTS
Constructive competition is offered by the Pentathlon Institute for students who have become proficient at the games and want to test their problem-solving/strategic thinking skills with other students. At each of the National Academic Mathematics Pentathlon tournament every Pentathlete is recognized based on the spirit of cooperative competition.
Students participating in a national academic tournament need to be very
knowledgeable of the procedures and rules which govern such competitions.
To prepare students for this level of involvement, teachers,
coaches and parents assist students in refining their game strategies,
orienting them to the procedural and challenge rules within each
game, and having them practice the games on a one-on-one basis.
Students and their families must formally register
for a National Mathematics Pentathlon Tournament. At a national
tournament each participant is matched with a different player
for each of the five games in the appropriate division (grade
level).
NOTE: A minimal quota of one adult volunteer for every two students is required.
